Bali – Sunset Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot, a popular tourist attraction in Bali is shaped by offshore rocks form over the years by ocean tide. It is home to the temple, the Pura Tanah Lot  which was built as one of the seven sea temple around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples were established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast.

What attracts large tourists to Tanah Lot is its stunning sun set and amazing rocks formation. You will need to pay a total of IDR40K to enter Tanah Lot. The path leading to Tanah Lot are commercialised with shops selling souveirs and restaurants selling food.

During low tide, uneven rocks can be seen around Tanah Lot area

The famous temple is above this big rock. There are people queuing to get bless by the spring water

Another view from a higer rock overlooking the temple. Lots of tourists and local loitering around waiting for the sunset and camera the natural beauty around.

If you walk further up, there are other interesting natural land formation. Another temple lies within here.

We saw wedding couple taking their wedding shots and this beautiful sea.

Stay there for approximately 2 hours, sitting on rocks and chatting away while looking at the big waves hitting the rocks and the famous sunset. We weren’t so into temples so Tanah Lot is the only temple we visited on our Bali trip. Worth my trip for these natural wonders.

Some advise:

1) If you did not prepare any transport, don’t worry, just head to the information counter which is at the carpark and request for one there.

2) Tanah Lot close at 7pm once the sunset is down. Try to leave earlier if you think you have seen and enjoyed enough. This is to avoid the traffic and crowd since everyone will be leaving. Going back to the city area will be jam all the way since there is only one small lane all the way. We thought we are early but was still caught in the jam. Finally reached back to Astana Batubelig Villa
